### Using fractal design to create inspiring and relaxing environments.
Seemingly random shapes and forms found in nature often appear haphazard. But upon closure inspection, there is a structure underlying these natural arrangements. And as we look closer and closer, the patterns repeat over and over. These are fractals. 
In basing design on the stress-reductive quality found in fractals, the transdisciplinary design team of 13&9 Design, Fractals Research, and Mohawk Group are tapping into our deep-seated desire to see patterns, to connect to nature and to have more inspiring and relaxing environments in which we live and work. 


Relaxing Floors

Complementing Nutopia, Nutopia Matrix presents two lower profile flat loop patterns that also adhere to the stringent requirements of the Living Product Challenge Petal Certification. Urban Transit has an active, shifting pattern, while Urban Terrain offers an overall gestural pattern. Both planks are made with a mix of heathered and solid yarns to emphasise depth of pattern. These two styles also feature Mohawk Group’s newest generation and highly sustainable, Red List Free backing, EcoFlex™ Matrix, which is dematerialised to use less raw materials and energy to minimise the product’s footprint.

As digital nomads, we can transition from the urban office to a rural haven and onwards to the outer reaches of the coastline, experiencing our work morph into play. ### Seeking the essence of natural environments
Owls have captured the imagination for centuries. Designed by Jason F. McLennan in collaboration with Mohawk Group, the Owls Collection captures the essence of these birds of prey through colour and patterning. Inspired by their plumage, mottled shades of black, brown, tan and grey take flight as distinctive, yet versatile commercial carpet planks across two patterns - Feather and Flight. A stylised visual and simple texture create intriguing, coordinating combinations.

Mohawk collaborated with Gensler, serving as product design consultant, for the collection.

### A take on hierarchy & structure
Change your perspective with Visual Edge, a new take on a hierarchy and structure that creates a flowing graphic pattern derived from nature. 
This biophilic hexagonal design comes in two plank styles that layer elements and change scale to guide you through space, similarly to a bird's eye view of the ground below. 
Patterns in a space can shrink or grown in scale to adjust to the changing formats of space in the built environment.

Designed by Jason F. McLennan, the founder of the Living Product Challenge, and his team at McLennan Design, the Lichen Collection, is inspired by assemblages of multi-hued, multi-textured lichens and their regenerative role in our ecosystem.

Following the success of the Lichen Collection, Lichen 1.5 brings an updated pattern with striking elements, designed with local Australian and New Zealand interiors in mind.
Lichen 1.5 features the same stunning colour palette as the original collection, with shades like Iceland Moss, Orange Sea and Everbloom, designed in a 3 tile system for creating zones within a space.
Made locally in Australia with the latest Pattern Perfect tufting technology, the Lichen Collection is now available faster than ever and like all our Australian made carpet tiles, is Declare Red List Free.

### An organic groundcover for all spaces
Awaken your senses with the down-to-earth comfort, soft textures and bulky yarns of Textural Effects modular planks. This elegant collection features soft organic groundcover visuals with added tactility and humanity to sustain all types of spaces. 
The two plank styles were inspired by woven fabric and handcrafts: Thematic Thread, a tweed pattern with an irregular loomed fabric quality and Tactile Infusion, a larger scale with a cozy, sweater-like textural aesthetic.

The Oceanic Collection captures the moods of Oceania, drawing inspiration from our unique geographic location.
